Having a teenager struggling with an eating disorder can feel like navigating a storm without a compass. You may find yourself questioning every meal, every mood, and every moment, all while trying to maintain the role of a supportive parent.
At A Soft Place to Land, we understand that eating disorder support for families means offering guidance, not guilt.
We offer comprehensive care that honors your teen's individuality and fosters a healing environment. Our approach is collaborative and compassionate, ensuring that your teen receives professional support while you continue to be their unwavering anchor.
Together, we can create a path toward recovery that respects both your teen's autonomy and your family's unique dynamics.
Your child deserves care that sees them as a whole person — not a diagnosis, nor a set of behaviors.
We work with teens of all genders, neurotypes, and lived experiences. Our team understands that eating disorders often come hand-in-hand with anxiety, perfectionism, trauma, chronic illness, or identity exploration. We meet your teen where they are, with curiosity, compassion, and clinical expertise.

Support for your teen. Support for you. Healing together.
Eating disorders during adolescence are complex. They impact your teen’s body, mind, and sense of self, and they can affect your entire family dynamic. You may feel like you’re constantly guessing, trying to fix it all, or fearing you’re doing it wrong. We see your effort, your worry, and your love.
Let us hold the clinical space so you can hold your relationship with your teen.
Let us guide their recovery so you can keep being their anchor, their advocate, their parent.
Nutrition counseling with an eating disorder dietitian to support nourishment
Therapy sessions with an eating disorder therapist to support mental health
Family sessions with your child's providers to support you
Please note: Therapy services are only in network with Highmark and Populytics. Nutrition services are in network with all of the below.

As part of beginning care at A Soft Place to Land, we include a one-time $100 onboarding fee for all new clients. This helps cover the time our team spends thoughtfully reviewing your paperwork, coordinating care, and setting up everything behind the scenes so your treatment starts smoothly. Because insurance doesn’t reimburse for this essential work, this fee helps us support both our clinicians and our clients well. If this creates a financial strain, please reach out — we’re happy to discuss a payment plan option if needed.

We believe in soft landings — not quick fixes.
We honor rest, autonomy, body trust, and the healing power of safe relationships.
We don’t prescribe weight goals or moralize food.
We do build trust, support nervous systems, and offer a space where your teen feels seen.
Recovery looks different for everyone — we’re here to help your family find what it means for you.
Here we'll chat for 15 minutes about why you reached out, how we can best support you, and schedule your first session.
This only takes about 10-15 minutes long to help us learn more about you and get important information to get started.
During this session we'll go at your own pace. We have some questions but recognize meeting a new provider can feel daunting. We're here to go slow or willing to dive right in. We can't wait to get to know you!
The bulk of where the emotional work comes in. Session frequency is determined by what you and your clinician feel is best.
We work with children (10 years old + ), teens, and adults. You can learn more about our children and teen program here.
Nutrition counseling is in network with Aetna, Highmark/BCBS (including Anthem and Horizon), Populytics, and Capital BCBS. Therapy is in network with Highmark/BCBS and Populytics only. If we do not accept your insurance, we are happy to provide you with a superbill for you to submit to your insurance to receive potential reimbursement or discuss sliding scale options.
All sessions with any clinician are $165.
We believe that all therapy and nutrition services should be accessible to all and therefore try to offer sliding scale rates to those who request them. We also parter with Project Heal, an organization that provides assistance with access to eating disorder care, and FedUp, an organization that supports our trans and intersex clients.

We understand that many people come to us with a long history of dieting, weight concerns, and a desire to lose weight, often shaped by personal experiences, medical messaging, and societal pressures. While we do not provide weight loss plans or prescribe diets, we deeply value body autonomy and honor each person's right to make decisions about their body.
Our team practices from a weight-inclusive, Health at Every Size® (HAES®)-aligned framework. This means we focus on supporting your overall well-being—including physical, emotional, and relational health—without using weight as the indicator of progress. Rather than focusing on changing your body, we work with you to build a more peaceful relationship with food, movement, and your body, wherever you are in your journey.
We’re here to hold space for your experiences and help you explore what feeling better in your body can mean, even if weight loss is a hope or curiosity for you. You don’t have to leave those feelings at the door and you won’t be judged for them. We just won’t use intentional weight loss as a treatment goal.
